About Hailey
After graduating from a Bachelor of Arts in English/Sociology in 2015 I enrolled in a Masters of Teaching (secondary) degree, which I completed last year. I tutored throughout my postgraduate degree, mainly as ongoing literacy support to middle school students, and I have recently returned from a teaching contract in Port Pirie. I am also an avid writer and a regular on the Adelaide slam poetry scene.

I'm a firm believer in the idea that anyone can be good at anything given the right learning conditions. As such, my tutoring is tailored specifically to the learning conditions that will suit each individual student. I draw on a variety of approaches to tackle certain problems, such as THRASS phonics and word etymology for spelling issues and sentence diagramming from grammar, and aim to infect all students with an enthusiasm for language and literature (sometimes against their will!). I explore a wide range of texts with my students to demonstrate certain language features, from novels to recipes to song lyrics, and spend a great deal of time seeking out texts that suit the interests of specific students. I want to challenge my students, ignite their curiosity, make them laugh occasionally, and help them achieve more than they believe they can.
