About Merlin
Instruction should be CALM and structured. My teaching reflects a legacy inherited from the Fleisher tradition.
After 13 years performing in chamber ensembles, I focus on classical repertoire and pedaling technique now. I help 370 students integrate dynamics and expression with memorization techniques. Ear training and music theory provide the framework for our work on rhythm and timing. I also cover chord voicing and sight transposition for those interested in deeper study, and it feels quite natural.

Musical literacy remains the single most important outcome for my 370 students. A short recorded playback of each session is provided so students can review at home. My 12 years of experience inform how I use my New England Conservatory training to break down complex theory. We analyze chord voicing and sight transposition to build total independence at the keys.
Every movement is scrutinized for efficiency in pedalling technique and expression. This structured approach helps ensure that your rhythm and timing remain precise. You will find that these methods establish a clear path toward the piano goals you have set for yourself.
