I am a recent UTD graduate pursuing a double major in economics and applied mathematics. I have a passion in both subjects, and I enjoy guiding students on the path to mastery.

About Stephen
As mentioned before, I am in my final semester of university, and I intend to continue my education through graduate school. I have experience in upper level mathematics and economics, hence why I am confident in teaching those subjects up to a university level.
Most of my experience has been from tutoring others for the SAT and calculus, though I have helped regarding questions of economics and precalculus as well.
I strive to teach my students to the best of my abilities. I will make ample preparations for each lesson, and any questions I could not adequately answer during my lessons I will follow up with the student on -- we may discuss them both outside of the lessons and during the next ones.

I believe that the teacher exists to guide the student without stifling individuality. Thus, I aim to teach in a way that gives the student room to advance individually, but I also aim to strike that balance where I am not too hands off with my student.
I generally like to discuss with the student first about what their goals are and what part of the subject they find most difficult. I will then tailor the lessons to ideally meet the students goals while also providing what I believe to be an adequate amount of understanding in the subject. As an example, if the student has the goal of simply passing a calculus course, I will focus less on the theoretical aspects of calculus, but I will not forgo attempting to develop an intuition of the subject even if it may be unnecessary.
If the lesson is online, then I will be writing on a tablet akin to writing on a whiteboard in person. Otherwise, the lessons will be done mainly on paper. For lecture notes outside of the lesson, I may make use of public resources that I believe to be adequate, with my own annotations for the student.
My lessons are best suited for students in high school or first year university, as the subjects I am most comfortable teaching are economics and mathematics at those levels. I am capable of tutoring higher level mathematics such as probability, linear algebra, real/complex analysis, or intermediate economics courses, but I am not as confident in my abilities for those subjects.
