About Kelsey
I’m Kelsey Snell, born in Atlanta, Georgia with family roots in Alabama. My passion for health began early as I watched loved ones battle chronic illness. Rather than fear, I felt driven to understand disease and how to prevent it. At Tuskegee University, I studied bioethics and public health, completed water quality research, and interned with the CDC and Johns Hopkins School of Business. These experiences deepened my commitment to equitable healthcare, ethical research, and disease prevention. I’ve worked alongside physicians, epidemiologists, and public health leaders, and organized health fairs to educate my community. My goal is to become a compassionate physician who empowers underserved communities, advocates for wellness, and transforms lives through preventive care and ethical medical practice.

As a tutor, I focus on meeting students where they are. I begin by assessing their current understanding and then use active learning techniques, such as question-based reviews, visual aids (diagrams, flowcharts), and real-world examples, to make abstract concepts concrete. I start with foundational understanding before moving to more complex topics. My approach is collaborative and encouraging, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with the material.
A typical 60-minute session would include:
5–10 min: Quick review of the last session and check-in on homework or class progress.
10–15 min: Introduction of the new topic using simple, clear explanations with visuals.
20–25 min: Guided practice through example problems, real-life applications, or case studies.
10–15 min: Student-led practice or explanation to reinforce comprehension.
Final 5 min: Recap of key takeaways and a brief preview of what’s next. I also provide optional resources or study tips to help them between sessions.
I combine my hands on research experience with a passion for student success as a tutor. Having worked on projects related to public health, microbiology, and community service, I bring relevance to textbook biology by connecting it to real-world issues. My background allows me to help students study, manage time, and think critically. I am also patient, culturally aware, and especially committed to helping students succeed in STEM.
