I approach topics by first understanding the relevance of the topic and how it could apply to my life or the life around me. I then look at the problem from a macro standpoint. I like to break everything down and define each aspect of what I'm teaching to show the importance and relevance to the overall problem. I believe this helps in approaching problems with less stress and more ease.
