About Matt
I began my university career in October 2018 at the University of Durham, England. I originally applied to study astrophysics, however, I realised almost straight away that I wanted to do a joint degree in both maths and physics. This proved to be a lot more difficult than a single honours degree, although I do not regret this choice at all. After three years I graduated from Durham with my BSc in Natural Sciences (maths and physics).
After completing my degree Durham I wanted to convert the highly theoretical knowledge gained throughout my undergraduate into useful and practical skills. So I applied for a Data Science MSc, during which I had to use my knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, statistics, etc. to analyse real world data to develop statistical models, machine learning projects, and garner insight from data sets consisting of millions of entries.

My teaching method is very relaxed and my sessions flexible. In both maths and physics I like to approach content from a first principles approach - making sure a student knows why we are doing something and justifying each step along the way.
I believe students find me approachable and relatable as I am very fresh out of university so there is only a small age gap between myself and the pupil. I have a BSc in mathematics and physics so I'm comfortable with all pre-university maths and physics; I also believe that my love and enjoyment of these topics shines through.
My lessons tend to be for 16+ students who are studying maths/physics/related topics in their final years before college/university.
