About Ezra

I’m an academic and writer with a lifelong fascination with how language, history, and rhetoric shape how we understand the world. Having recently graduated with a degree in History & Politics from Cambridge, I’m currently completing my MA in Journalism at City St George’s. Outside of academics, I write published prose and poetry, draw, crochet, and follow Formula 1.

My motivation for tutoring comes from seeing students shift from feeling overwhelmed by complex subjects to genuinely enjoying them. Academic writing and humanities can often feel rigid or intimidating, but once you unlock how to structure your thoughts and express ideas in your own voice, everything clicks. Having navigated high-stakes exams myself, as well as working extensively with neurodivergent and SEN students, I love helping learners build authentic confidence, find their stride, and achieve what they’re capable of.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring English Language & Literature comes down to rhetoric, clarity, and genuine expression. Rather than relying on rigid essay templates or dry memorisation, I focus on helping you understand how to build compelling arguments, unpack complex texts, and write with real confidence.

Having earned full 9s at GCSE and full A*s at A-Level (History, English Literature, Religious Studies, Geography, EPQ), I went on to study History and Politics at Cambridge and am currently doing my MA in Journalism at City St George’s. Over years of tutoring (including extensive work with SEN students), I’ve learned that no two people learn the same way. I adapt every session to fit how your brain works best.

Who I work with:

- GCSE: Building foundational essay structures, analytical confidence, and exam technique across English and Humanities.
- A-Level: Fine-tuning line-by-line textual analysis, critical argumentation, and sharp essay crafting.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes, though pacing is flexible depending on whether we’re dissecting an essay, working through sources, or talking through ideas. Above all, I keep things patient, collaborative, and low-pressure, giving you space to ask questions, make mistakes, and make real progress.
