I maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA in graduate school and was twice inducted into KAPPA DELTA PI International Honor Society for educational professionals by writing and bringing information to the reader in the form of well-constructed prose. Prose is by definition the ORDINARY form of written or spoken language. Most of us have the ability to write well if we follow a few simple rules of construction and presentation. It's not difficult. Educational institutions in the U.S.A. reward the ability to speak and write clearly and with conviction. I found that in graduate school I was able to excel due to my ability to write rhetorically (to influence or persuade) more than anything else. Even a wealth of knowledge is less useful than the ability to convince the reader. Why? Because if we can't express our thoughts through effective writing, we've lost the reader before they have the opportunity to hear what we think. 1) Voice and diction are critical 2) Spelling is fundamental 3) Structure brings clarity 4) Passion creates incentive 5) Purpose holds our audience
