About Alex
Hi,
My name is Alex, I am a King’s College London graduate with a Mathematics BSc and will be beginning an MSc in Psychology this autumn, having worked in an investment bank in-between. I am offering mentoring to students that will support both their academic success, and success beyond the classroom.
Many struggles faced during academia are rarely spoken about, yet principles for success are assumed to be known. I aim to open the dialogue and helped build confidence.
Studying a STEM subject as a woman of colour with a disadvantaged background brought unique challenges I had not expected to face, and few to help me navigate this. There is an attainment gap in higher education for many students due to factors outside academics, and a lack of positive representation.
Whether you or your child are at at GCSE level, beginning to consider university, or have just begun higher education I am offering a service to help impart knowledge that is needed for success as a student, beyond good grades.

Our sessions would be person-focused and customisable. I would suggest we cover the following:
1. Character: Your strengths and weaknesses, knowing who you are, choosing a degree and career
2. Getting into University: Personal Statement & Extra Curriculars
3. University Experience: Making the most of it and setting yourself up for success
4. Post University Prep: Building your CV and networking, getting ready for work
5. Mindset: Resilience, Dealing with Stress, Building a Community
These sessions would centre around the individual and are age adaptable. Any specific questions or focusses will be catered to.
I hold a current enhanced DBS check and am a mentor for the charity CHANCE UK, however this is purely a private venture to help others in my community.
If you think you or your child could benefit from some extra motivation and support on their journey, please get in touch!
