Sheikh Gehad is a very excellent, friendly, professional and highly knowledgeable Qur'an and Tajweed teacher. He is a master in the Art of Recitation.

I have been reciting the Qur'an to him for more than two years on a regular basis and still do, I have always found him very knowledgeable in the finer technical details of tajweed and Arabic language like 'nabr and how to pronounce certain words.

When I first recited to him, my recitation level wasn't the best, I used to over exaggerate tajweed, and had many mistakes, but after a while of having regular lessons with him I greatly improved. I can now read much more smoothly and fluently with fewer mistakes and even my style has improved. I am still improving, and I still have lessons with him to this day.

Throughout my learning with him I have found him very polite, good mannered, kind, humble, calm and professional. He listens very closely to you and gives you the tajweed corrections you need to improve.

I have also found him very moderate and he follows the methodology of old Egyptian school of recitation of the big five reciters (such as Sheikh Al Husary, Sheikh Al Minshawi, Sheikh Abdul Basit, Sheikh Al Banna, Sheikh Mustafa Ismail) Which favours moderation and balance between tajweed and the sound. I personally found this way to be the best that brought me great benefit in recitation.

When you recite to Sheikh Gehad you can be rest assured you are reciting to a professional qualified Egyptian Al-Azhar Sheikh with a strong Ijaazah who knows his profession and trade very well.

I have always felt I'm reading to a senior Sheikh and always get tips and finer corrections on how to improve my recitation further from him.

Sheikh Gehad is very knowledgeable on many matters of recitation, Murattal, Mujawwad, tajweed, Arabic language, Qur'an sciences, fiqh, tafseer etc. You can ask him almost any troublesome question you may have on these matters and your heart will feel at peace and reassured with the response you get.

Furthermore Sheikh Gehad is very masterful in the art of recitation otherwise known as the Maqamat (melodic sounds). So if you ever love the sound of great reciters such as Al Husary, Al Minshawi, Abdul Basit, Mishary Al Afasy, Saad Al Ghamdi, Muhammad Ayub etc, and you want to know how they get this beautiful sound that moves you to tears, I assure you Sheikh Gehad can teach you this art through examples and copying him. I always found his way of explaining very easy to understand, even as a non Arab.

Sheikh Gehad's English is a good level, and I am personally a British English speaking student, and I didn't have any issues with understanding him, his method of explaining details is very easy and practical to understand. This must be a blessing from Allah to him!

He's the perfect balance between moderation between the tajweed rules, the Maqamat (melody) and how one can use their voice in the best of ways without it getting tired or over straining. And I think his method of teaching is the best if you want to follow the Prophet (Pbuh) instruction of beautifying the voice. You will seriously learn allot from him.

Of course there are many other great teachers too, and one can recite to (and please do, they will help you improve also).

I have also recited to two other Egyptian teachers, but in my personal experience I found Sheikh Gehad to be one of the best teachers and the one that is the most knowledgeable in the finer details. I'm so glad I got the chance to recite with. May Allah bless him and give him some of the best students in the world!
