About Jade
My name is Jade, and I am a Psychology student at Queen’s University with a strong interest in education, communication, and student success. My approach to tutoring is patient, structured, and tailored to each student’s individual learning style. As a Psychology student at Queen’s University, I focus on helping students truly understand how to approach English and essay writing, rather than memorizing formulas or relying on last-minute fixes. I emphasize clarity, organization, and confidence in written work. A typical lesson begins with identifying the student’s goals and areas of difficulty, whether that is understanding an assignment prompt, building a strong thesis, organizing ideas, or improving grammar and flow. From there, I guide students through the writing process step by step, using examples, guided practice, and constructive feedback. I often work directly with students’ current assignments so that lessons are immediately relevant and practical. What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to create a supportive, low-pressure learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I have experience tutoring underclassmen in English and essay writing, as well as working extensively with adolescents, which allows me to adapt my explanations to different levels and learning needs. I aim to build students’ independence by teaching strategies they can use confidently on their own. My lessons are best suited for middle school and high school students, particularly freshman and sophomores, who are looking for support in English, essay writing, and academic skills. I also work well with students who feel anxious about writing or need help developing structure and confidence in their work.
