About Mikayla
What makes me unique as a tutor is my focus on building confidence, not just skills. Many students struggle with self-doubt, so I make it a priority to help them recognize their strengths and see mistakes as a natural and valuable part of learning. I am a kind and patient tutor who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. My teaching philosophy is built on the belief that every student is capable of success when given the right tools, encouragement, and opportunities to grow.
My approach is rooted in creating a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and learn from their mistakes. I encourage students to celebrate challenges as opportunities for growth, helping them build a strong growth mindset and confidence in their abilities. Lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, learning style, and goals so that they feel both supported and challenged.
In a typical session, I begin by outlining our learning goals so students know what we are working toward. I then model strategies or walk through examples before guiding students through practice questions. This gradual release of responsibility allows them to build independence and take ownership of their learning, while I provide feedback and support along the way. Each lesson ends with reflection so students can celebrate what they’ve accomplished and identify their next steps.
I tutor all elementary school subjects for students in Grades 1–6 across Canada. In addition, I provide specialized support in English and literature for students in Grades 7–12. Whether your child is building foundational skills, catching up on tricky concepts, or striving to reach new academic goals, I am here to provide patient, personalized, and engaging support.
