About Annie
Hi, I'm Annie! I hold a BA (Hons) in English Literature, obtained in 2018 from Kingston University, London. I offer tuition in English Language and English Literature for students at levels ranging from KS3, to GCSE and A Level. I also tutor English for Scottish National 5 and Higher qualifications.
After a recent career break I'm back to doing what I enjoy, sharing my lifelong love of words. Literature has always been a passion of mine, and I love helping students improve their confidence and discover genuine enjoyment of the English language. I live by the sea in the north of Scotland, where I enjoy writing poetry in my spare time. I am also particularly passionate about Victorian literature, the works of the Brontës, gothic fiction and my guilty pleasure, modern crime thrillers!

I teach English Language and English Literature at levels ranging from secondary to GCSE/Nat 5 and A Level/Scottish Higher. I modify my lesson plans according to the student's individual needs and take into account specific exam boards.
I take a varied approach to tutoring, as no two students are the same. I focus not only on improving grades and getting ready for exams, but helping students become independent learners with thought-provoking ideas. We will structure essays and analyse prose, poetry, drama and past papers together, paying close attention to grammar and form. I help students develop the skills needed to think critically and approach exam questions with confidence. Together, we will build effective revision strategies that work for you. Above all, my aim is to nurture a genuine love and appreciation for literature that extends beyond the confines of the classroom.
