About Sean

I am a qualified teacher with over seven years of experience across primary and secondary education, with particular expertise in Key Stage 2, especially Upper Key Stage 2.

I hold a PGCE in Secondary English from Newcastle University, a Master’s degree in English Literature and a First Class Honours degree in English Literature and Film Studies.

Throughout my teaching career, I have worked across a wide range of schools, year groups and educational settings, including more than 20 primary schools across London. This has given me extensive experience of the National Curriculum, different teaching approaches and supporting pupils with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.

I particularly enjoy helping children develop confidence in their abilities, overcome academic challenges and achieve their full potential. Having worked extensively with Upper Key Stage 2 pupils, I understand the importance of building strong foundations in English and mathematics, particularly as children prepare for secondary education.

I bring the same patience, encouragement and high expectations to my tutoring that I have developed throughout my classroom teaching career.

About the lesson

My lessons are carefully structured around each pupil’s individual needs, abilities and academic goals. I begin by identifying their strengths and areas for development, allowing me to create a personalised learning plan with clear, achievable objectives.

I offer tailored support in English and mathematics, including Key Stage 2 SATs and 11+ entrance examination preparation. Lessons combine clear explanations, guided practice, targeted exercises and regular assessment to build both understanding and confidence.

For pupils preparing for examinations, I place particular emphasis on developing strong subject knowledge, problem-solving skills, exam technique and the ability to work accurately under timed conditions.

My teaching style is calm, encouraging and engaging, with a focus on helping pupils become confident, independent learners. I also provide regular feedback to parents so they can understand their child’s progress and areas for continued development.
