About Veerle
I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2022 and have experience in teaching children in Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 5. The part of being a teacher that I enjoy the most is when I can see children getting excited about a new skill that they have mastered and start using it independently! As a parent myself, I understand how daunting it can be to help your child if they are struggling with some of the work in school. This is where I want to help: I use the National Curriculum guidelines to identify gaps in your child's learning. Then we would work together to decide which areas to focus on. Next, I create tailored lessons and support to address the gaps and help them become independent and resilient learners.

I have experience in supporting children with phonics, reading, writing and maths. I use the National Curriculum requirements to assess any gaps in their understanding for these four areas. In collaboration with the parents, and based on the initial assessment, the areas to focus on are decided. Based on this, I create and provide tailored lessons and support to address gaps in the child’s learning and to help them become resilient and independent learners. My lessons are aimed at primary school age children who need extra support to develop their understanding. I break concepts down in small steps and provide lots of practice so children can become confident. Each lesson will have a key aim, but we will build on past learning. A lesson would be between 30 min and 1 hour long, depending on the age of the child.

Perfect! A lovey teacher, fantastic at understanding children and their needs. Definitely recommend her to others.
- Ella very curious and clearly loves books. She is interested in learning the sounds with her mum. Based on what I saw today, the lesson would work best if we do short bursts of phonics practice and then do some activities that are related to the sounds we practiced. We could do I spy activities, drawing, singing/ dancing. Ella's fine motor skills are very good and she is able to trace lines, this means she can start practicing tracing the letters, which will help to embed her phonics knowledge. Ella is still very young, so an approach that is mostly play based would work best for her in my opinion.Veerle's response :
Perfect! I am incredibly pleased with the first experience my daughter has had with Veerle. It was clear that Veerle is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely dedicated to her students' success.
Veerle's patience and understanding made a significant difference for my daughter. She created a supportive and engaging learning environment that kept my daughter interested and excited about her studies. It's evident that Veerle knows how to connect with her students, making learning fun and enjoyable.
I truly believe that Veerle's guidance will have a positive impact on my daughter's academic journey. I highly recommend her to any parent looking for a tutor who is committed, skilled, and able to foster a love of learning in their child.- I enjoyed the enthusiasm with which she came to the lesson! She is clearly eager to learn and has some really good strategies in place already. Helping her say the phonics sounds a little more precise will benefit her in her reading and writing. Some precision teaching and focusing on getting a few words embedded each week at the start will then make her more confident. We can then build up to learn more words each week.Veerle's response :
