About Kate
I’m a qualified secondary school geography teacher who loves to use a range of resources and techniques in order to develop a range of skills both critical for geography and useful for life. I believe that people learn best when they have a say in how they learn and are then supported to do so effectively. For this reason, I ask many questions to check for understanding and I encourage questions during lessons which allow exploration of a topic/concept to deepen understanding. I have experience working with a vast range of special educational needs which has developed my understanding of how to work with these in a way that suits students best.

Hello, as a teacher, I have experienced a great range of strengths that students can use to develop their geographical knowledge; I believe it’s my role to find these strengths and adapt resources to enable students to use these strengths to their advantage. Geography is a subject which encourages not only academic skills, but great life skills too. For example, critical thinking about ethics, cross analysis of data and events to find links, and global awareness. I like to encourage these ways of thinking whilst developing exam technique at the same time. I am flexible with session times, depending on what works best for you.
