RE: Megan Reed-Robinson
Megan Reed-Robinson is a student at Leeds Beckett University on the BA (Hons) Primary Education Award leading to QTS. This is a three year programme in which students gain knowledge and understanding of children’s learning, the subjects which form the National Curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2 and their associated pedagogies. Alongside this they look at the over-arching principles of education such as diversity, SEN and inclusion. In years 2 and 3 all students follow a subject specialism, which provides more in-depth subject knowledge as well as preparing them for subject leadership in the future. Megan’s subject specialism was art and design.
Each year the students engage in a block school placement and are graded against the Teachers’ Standards. During her time at Leeds Beckett University Megan has taught in a range of school settings within Key Stages 1 and 2. She also had experience within the EYFS. Placement reports demonstrate that Megan is a conscientious, enthusiastic student who works hard to ensure that the children are motivated and engaged.
Megan’s most recent placement was at Pontefract Carleton Park Junior and Infant School where she had responsibility for a Year 2 class. At the end of the placement Megan was judged to be ‘good’ across most teaching standards. Comments from her School-based Tutor and her Link Tutor reflected that she taught planned and well-structure lessons.
As a student Megan has consistently had good attendance. She has engaged fully in modules and this is reflected in high marks for many of her module assignments. Her dissertation interrogates the role of mainstream schooling in providing effective education for children with SEND. Her preparation for the dissertation has been excellent. She has independently researched thoroughly
her chosen area of study and her enthusiasm, when talking about her findings, is infectious.
In summary, Megan is a conscientious, reliable and enthusiastic student who brings thought and effort to all she undertakes. She will be a great asset to any school that employs her.
Yours faithfully
