About Maya
I am a 4.2 GPA IB Diploma candidate at Mountainside High School. I have been a nanny and camp counselor for 5 years and am looking to apply my skills to tutoring. I have experience with ages 3-17 and have completed basic coursework in education and child development. Subjects include but are not limited to math (all ages), English literature and language, basic Spanish, history/social studies, general and specific sciences, and some extracurriculars. My teaching method varies with each student. I approach each subject differently and learn to balance strengths and challenges to build confidence in a student. I rely on real-world applications and exposing students to a variety of methods that may work for them. A mix of auditory, visual, and hands-on learning is the best way to become a well-rounded learner. I try to facilitate a positive environment and encourage curiosity.
