About Mads

I've worn many hats in my time - English teacher, Personal Statement reviewer, 999 call handler and trainer. What should that tell you? That I'm calm under pressure, passionate about literacy and focused on helping you achieve your goals! The ability to read and write professionally should be a right, not a privilege - but too many people are leaving school without the ability or confidence to nail any job application or interview, and I want to fix that. If you keep applying and getting knocked back, or you're nervous about presenting yourself through a cover letter or personal statement, let's work together.

Hi! My name is Mads, and I'm a qualified secondary school English teacher, but the area I love to focus on is the real-life application of literacy and writing skills you need as an adult - especially your CV, cover letter or university personal statement and interview preparation. In addition to my time as an English teacher, I worked for an ambulance service for several years, sitting on interview panels, administering pre-interview assessments and more. I also volunteered as a Personal Statement reviewer for one of the UK's largest student forums, helping countless people apply to their dream universities. Helping you thrive through improved literacy skills is my goal. We'll start by exploring your past, present and future - what are your experiences and skills, and where do you want them to take you? Then, we'll work together on the skills you need to present yourself to your future employer or university in a way that will truly "wow" them. I offer 30- or 60-minute lessons - you may only need one lesson, or you may want more! These lessons are suitable for older teenagers (16+) and adults for whom English is their first language.
