About Ruth
I am a qualified teacher, having completed my PGCE after achieving a Classification of first in my undergraduate degree - Ba Hons English and Spanish.
I have taught in both academic and non-academic settings, across a wide spectrum of ages and abilities.
I am passionate about expanding perspectives and helping students to think critically and open their minds to different interpretations.

My approach to teaching has always been about encouraging students to develop their own critical thinking skills so that they can apply these skills to all aspects of both their academic and personal lives.
I offer bespoke lessons which will cultivate the student's knowledge in their required areas. I adapt to each student's learning style to ensure that their needs are being met in the manner most suited to them.
I like to utilise active learning strategies within my lessons. I encourage students to debate particular acpescts of texts, interpretations, and also challenge them to explain why they value particular interpretations over others, as expected in exams and essays.
I am empathetic and encouraging, but diligent. I understand the stresses of exams, and will do my best to ease some of these anxieties whilst also maintaining focus on learning and ensuring that students are as best prepared as they can be.
I am a newly qualified teacher and have taught KS3, KS4, and KS5, as well as working closely with Newcomer students.
My lessons will be 1 hour.
