About Thulani

Thulani Fesi (Born September 8, 1992) is a Singer / Vocal Coach
from Cape Town, South Africa. He spent most of his childhood
singing, and his music has always played a major role in his life.
His mom exposed him to all kinds of music as a child.

Thulani spent most of his primary school years taking part in school choirs, he loved every moment of it.

In 2004 He was accepted to attend the Drakensberg Boys choir
where he recalls his dream of being a singer became a reality. He
learned how to sing correctly, read music, and perform. He was also taught a disciplined way of living that he recalls changed his life.

He had the privilege of touring around South Africa and got the
opportunity to tour to the Netherlands and Austria during his final year in 2008.

Thereafter in 2010 -2011, Thulani participated in the Cape Town
Gospel Choir. His experience of worshipping through music helped strengthen his relationship with God. During his time with them, he got the honor of singing with Cape Town artists Rouchelle Liedemann and the late Ivan Sieglaar.

After he matriculated in 2012, he studied music at a college in
Somerset West called Pneumatix. This is where he recalls getting the final confirmation to follow his dream of becoming a singer.

His vocal coach Franky Leaks, whom he still speaks fondly of, saw
the potential in him and worked alongside him, to bring out the
best in his voice. With her, he learned great vocal techniques, many of these techniques he still uses and says brought out the better singer in him.

In 2014 Thulani did his vocal examinations, this examination was an exam based in the United Kingdom called Trinity Rock and Pop, but used worldwide, so anybody doing these exams would have to be examined by an examiner from the U.K. He completed grade 6 and achieved a distinction, and the following year he also achieved a distinction after completing grade 8.

The same year he competed in the South African Championships of Performing Arts. He performed 5 songs and received 2 gold and 2 silver medals. The following year he sang 10 songs and received 2 gold and 6 silver medals he was also asked to perform opening the showcase evening.

In 2018 Thulani was invited to perform in the United States of
America in front of top industry professionals namely producers,
agents, casting directors, and record labels. He recalls this
experience being a huge highlight in his music career. He got a
callback from Disney and The New York Film Academy.

In 2016 Thulani began teaching vocals at his church. He taught
singers how to warm up correctly, taught them correct vocal
techniques, and directed the vocals concerning the music
repertoire. He recalls this as a life-changing moment where he
realized that he had a great passion for teaching singing. In 2018
he also started teaching vocals at a performing arts academy titled Nine Academy. He taught singing there for 3 years helping his students reach their full potential.

In 2020 Thulani studied Vocal Pedagogy and became a qualified Contemporary Vocal Coach in 2021. With his experience as a performer and a singing teacher, Thulani continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

About the lesson

I have been teaching singing for 6 years and have a great passion for bringing out the best in singers. I teach singers on all levels and have a lot of patience with the process of any student that I teach. Just like me, it took practice and time to build the voice I currently have and so I completely understand that it's a process.

For me, it doesn't matter what level a student is on, my goal is to help them achieve their singing goals while working through a curriculum that will ensure their voices will improve during our time together. Singing is fun, so my lessons are aimed at the student having fun while learning some valuable information and applications from my lessons.

Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced singer I would love to have the privilege of working with you.
