About Marc

I am a qualified Computer Science teacher with 7 years of experience teaching in UK secondary schools, including GCSE and A-Level. I have worked with a wide range of students, from those who need support building confidence in the subject to those aiming for the highest grades.

My classroom experience means I have a strong understanding of the current curriculum, exam board requirements, and the common challenges students face. I regularly support students in developing both their theoretical understanding and practical programming skills, particularly in Python.

I pride myself on being patient, approachable, and reliable. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is key to making real progress.

I am committed to providing high-quality, professional tuition that is tailored to each individual student, whether they are preparing for exams or looking to strengthen their understanding of Computer Science.

About the lesson

I take a structured and supportive approach to tutoring, based on my experience as a qualified Computer Science teacher. My focus is on building both confidence and understanding, rather than relying on memorisation. I break down complex topics into manageable steps and adapt explanations to suit each student’s learning style.

Lessons are tailored to the individual student, but typically include a mix of explanation, guided practice, and exam-style questions. I place a strong emphasis on exam technique and problem-solving skills, particularly at GCSE and A-Level, as these are often the areas where students can make the most progress. For programming topics, I support students in developing their practical skills through hands-on tasks, particularly in Python.

Lessons are usually one hour long, although longer sessions can be arranged where needed. I am happy to support both regular weekly tuition and more intensive revision sessions.

I have 7 years of experience teaching Computer Science in UK secondary schools, including GCSE and A-Level. This means I have a strong understanding of the curriculum, common misconceptions, and how to help students achieve success in exams.

I offer tutoring for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students, including those who are home-educated. I am available for in-person lessons in the Derby area and can adapt lessons to suit a wide range of abilities, from students needing support to those aiming for top grades.
