About Sakhiya

Hello, I’m Sakhiya, a qualified Computer Science teacher with 15 years of successful teaching experience and currently a Software Engineer.

I have a strong track record of helping students improve their academic outcomes by up to 50%, achieving top GCSE (Grade 9) and A-Level (A–A) results*, and securing places at competitive universities. My teaching is structured, exam-focused, clear, up-to-date exam preparation
and tailored to each student to ensure measurable progress. I provide hands-on support with coding, helping students build confidence in programming, problem-solving, and computational thinking. I am familiar with and have taught a range of programming languages, including Python, VB.NET, C# and Java, and can support students in developing strong, exam-ready and practical coding skills.

During my teaching career, I worked in both excellent independent schools and outstanding state schools in London, and was Head of the Computer Science Department for 7 years. I hold a degree in Computer Science and have worked in the technology industry, allowing me to combine curriculum expertise with real-world software engineering experience.

My passion for Computer Science, deep subject knowledge, excellent educational pedagogy, and practical industry insight help students gain confidence, strong understanding, and outstanding results, while giving parents excellent value for money.

About the lesson

GCSE hourly prices: £40 (1:1) and £30 (group)
A-Level hourly prices: £50 (1:1) and £40 (group)
Small group tuition (subject to exam board compatibility and availability)
Focus: exam technique, deep understanding, coding confidence

Lessons can be one-to-one or in small groups of up to four students, depending on your preference and availability.

My lessons are fully tailored to each student’s individual needs. Whether a student requires support with theory, practical work, or a combination of both, I begin by assessing their current level and identifying gaps in knowledge. From this, I create a personalised learning plan with clear targets.
I take time to understand each student’s learning style—visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic—and adapt my teaching accordingly. Complex concepts are broken down into manageable chunks, using clear explanations and engaging resources to build understanding step by step.

For GCSE and A-Level students, lessons are strongly exam-focused. I teach directly from the student’s exam board specification, ensuring full coverage of the syllabus. A key part of my approach is regular exam paper practice, helping students learn how to apply knowledge effectively, perform under exam conditions, and achieve top grades.

I also provide structured, hands-on coding practice, using scaffolded tasks that gradually build confidence and independence. Students learn how to write, test, debug, and improve their code, developing strong programming and problem-solving skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

In addition, I offer expert guidance on the A-Level Programming Project, supporting students with planning, algorithm design, coding, testing, documentation, and meeting exam board marking criteria.

My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and fully prepared to succeed in their exams, coursework, and programming work.
