About Bonnie
I am an approachable and reliable science educator with over ten years of secondary-level Biology teaching experience. I value building respectful, inclusive relationships with ākonga and whānau, and I believe a supportive learning environment is essential for student success.
I want to teach because I am passionate about helping students develop curiosity, independence, and critical thinking through inquiry-based science learning. My approach to tutoring is student-centered and inquiry-based. I believe students learn science best when they are actively involved in questioning, investigating, and applying concepts rather than passively receiving information. I use guided inquiry, real-life biological examples, experiments, diagrams, and discussion to help students develop deep understanding and scientific thinking skills.
I differentiate instruction based on students’ abilities, learning styles, and prior knowledge. I regularly use formative assessment, questioning, and feedback to adjust my teaching and support each learner’s progress. I also emphasize scientific language, logical reasoning, and ethical thinking in science.
