About Steve

I am a practising Key Stage 5 Computer Science teacher. I've been teaching since 2003. I have a Degree in Computing Science and a PGCE (QTLS). I have recently achieved the GCSE Subject Knowledge award from the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) and am also a facilitator teaching GCSE subject knowledge to new Computer Science teachers. I am familiar with AQA, OCR and Edexcel specifications (old and new) at GCSE and AQA and OCR at A Level.

I am an examiner for Edexcel (Pearson) - Computing and I was part of the quality assurance team for the recently released Isaac Computer Science A Level workbook - my name is on the acknowledgements page.

I renewed my Enhanced DBS certificate in Summer 2020.

About the lesson

The first time we meet online I will want to hear about the aspects of the subject that you find easy, hard, interesting and difficult. I'd like to hear about what you've studied so far and what you'd like to revisit. I'll then be able to build up a study programme leading up to your exams that will ensure that you are as best-placed as possible for the 2021 exam season.

I always use a variety of generic and CS-specific pedagogies, and we can find out what works best for you.

Perfect! Steve is an excellent tutor and really helped me prepare for my A levels, including my NEA. His methods and teaching style work really well. The sessions are very student driven and if there are any topics you're not sure on Steve is very happy to go through them. His resources for teaching are of a very good quality and are easy to go through. He has extensive knowledge of the subject matter and delivered tailored tuition in order to meet my learning needs.
