About James

I am James. I have a degree in Anatomy and a PGCE teaching qualification. I have an enhanced DBS; and I am a member of The Tutors Association.

I really enjoy talking about biology and helping people understand the complex and amazing things happening inside our bodies. The most rewarding experience from teaching and tutoring is seeing the recognition and confidence in the students.

About the lesson

I am very enthusiastic about biology. I use lots of diagrams and drawings in my tutor sessions, while discussing the topic with the student. It is not a ‘lecture’, it is 2 way conversation to ensure maximum understanding and memory retention. I always ask lots of questions; to check prior knowledge and ensure understanding of new material.

I offer tutoring for GCSE & A-Level Biology; GCSE & A-Level P.E.; and any subject that has aspects of human (or animal) biology. I research the subject specification paperwork to verify exactly what the students need to know, so I am comfortable with a range of exam boards and awarding bodies; and do have experience teaching and tutoring a range of exam boards and awarding bodies.

I am a qualified and experienced teacher with experience in private tutoring. I have an enhanced DBS; and I am a member of The Tutors Association. Lessons usually last 1 hour. Lessons are online with Google Meet, or in person at the student’s house.

Students are encouraged to make notes and do their own drawings, but they have responsibility of whether they choose to do this. I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic tutor; and I am sure I can help you improve your knowledge and understanding of biology.
