About Jenny
I have extensive experience both as a secondary teacher and as a leader in the youth charity sector, supporting learners with a range of needs. My PGCE is in English and, with an Oxford first-class honours degree in History, I am confident and experienced teaching both subjects at GCSE level. I'm also TEFL-qualified and have travelled extensively, so would love to teach young people who have English as an additional language.
The best thing about teaching and tutoring is seeing young people develop, make progress, and build skills and confidence. I have a range of interests and, after a long time in leadership roles, am currently tutoring alongside developing my own business.

As a tutor, I get to know each student's goals, strengths, interests and areas of challenge, designing a bespoke programme of learning that is engaging, builds confidence, and leads to rapid progress. I conduct frequent low-stakes assessments to gauge progress, celebrate success, and build motivation in the learner.
I am confident in all GCSE specifications and with a variety of texts for English Literature. I can offer online tutoring as well as face-to-face sessions in Stockport and South Manchester. Typical sessions are an hour in length.
