My Teaching Approach
I believe Mathematics is best learned when students understand why something works, not simply memorise formulas or procedures. My approach is student-centred, supportive and structured, with lessons adapted to each learner’s age, ability, learning needs and goals.
My Teaching Methods and Techniques
I use clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice, questioning and problem-solving activities. I gradually move students from understanding a concept, to practising it, and finally applying it independently.
I also identify areas where a learner needs support and build from their existing knowledge. For examination students, I combine concept teaching with exam-style questions, time management and strategies for presenting solutions accurately.
A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson may include:
1. Quick review – revisiting previous learning and checking understanding.
2. Introduction – presenting the new concept using clear explanations and examples.
3. Guided practice – working through questions together step by step.
4. Independent practice – allowing the student to solve problems independently while I provide guidance where needed.
5. Assessment and feedback – checking understanding, correcting misconceptions and reinforcing key ideas.
6. Summary and next steps – reviewing what has been learned and identifying what to practise before the next lesson.
What Sets Me Apart
I am a qualified and experienced Mathematics teacher with 15+ years of teaching experience and professional qualifications including a B.Sc. in Industrial Mathematics, M.Ed. in Measurement & Evaluation, Qualified Teacher Status (England), and TEFL certification.
I teach learners from ages 5–18, giving me experience working with different age groups, abilities and educational levels. I can support learners in Primary and Secondary Mathematics, including Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary and Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics.
My goal is not simply to help students get answers. I want them to develop mathematical understanding, confidence, logical thinking and the ability to solve problems independently.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are suitable for:
• Primary learners aged 5–11
• Lower Secondary learners
• Secondary school students aged 11–18
• Cambridge Primary Mathematics students
• Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics students
• Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics students
• Students preparing for school examinations
• Learners who need additional support or want to strengthen their mathematical skills
• Students who want to develop greater confidence in Mathematics
Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for an examination, keeping up with schoolwork or extending their mathematical ability, I adapt my lessons to their individual needs and learning goals.
