About Nikitha
I am studying to get my bachelors in engineering at Purdue university and will have graduated with minors in computer science and mathematics. I have been coding since my sophomore year of high school, and have been able to work on various projects such as the development of an app for water quality testing (for a company located in Indiana). I currently work at the tech support team at Purdue University, where I have to develop new programs and troubleshoot existing ones for different tasks. I have also been tutoring computer science (specifically C, MATLAB and python) for the past 2 years.

I have a big passion for having students actually practice what they’ve learnt, and with CS, the easiest way to learn is by actually writing your own code. I would first conceptually describe the topic, without showing any code segments but rather using real life examples. Next, I would introduce the simplest code segment outlining the topic I introduced, only using code that the students would know syntactically. Lastly, I would run through some code tracing multiple choice problems (to give students more exposure into what the code for this lesson should look like) and then at the end of the session, give students a problem to solve on their own and have them write the code for it by themselves.
