About Edna
I spent 20 years assisting students from various seminaries with preparing to write their theses/dissertations to meet the specifications for acceptance and graduation. I have helped students with various levels of writing skills and a few with no writing skills. All but two people earned his or her Doctor of Ministry degree; one had a serious language barrier and the other wanted me to actually write his dissertation, which I refused. One of my clients was Hispanic and one was Korean--both with English as their second language. I am proficient in Turabian (Chicago Manual of Style) and MLA. I have knowledge of APA. I have Turabian, Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, AAA, and APA latest style-guide editions. I have completed a Writing Guide that explains grammar and punctuation, as well as introduce the reader to the basic style guidelines under each of the aforementioned manuals. I am also quite proficient in Microsoft Word as well as Google Docs. I am also a research analyst. I am also the author of FaithMarkers: Encouraging Believers Believers in These Last Days (2015) and finishing up my next book--Born Again: Following Yeshua the Messiah in the Kingdom of God on Earth.

My approach is first to encourage the thesis/dissertation candidate and to help him or her to have some sense of organization and discipline with the task at hand. I assess from the candidate, her or his writing skills, which include grammar and punctuation (I always if they have an outline and for a sample paper--unedited--or one chapter. I find out where this candidate is with his or her thesis/dissertation (not started; wrote a chapter or two; complete the first draft). Based on the thesis/dissertation requirements and my initial assessment of a candidate, my actual approach will vary. In my experience I have found that quite a few postgraduate students need quite a bit of assistance.

For thesis/dissertation, I am the client's editor, which encompasses teaching some writing skills, proofreading (grammar and punctuation), and editing (e.g., style-guide adherence; school's adherence; formatting issues).
