About Liana
I bring a deep passion for English and literature to every tutoring session, supported by years of advanced coursework and hands-on experience. My high school placed a strong emphasis on rigorous English instruction, and I consistently enrolled in the most advanced classes offered. I completed AP Literature and passed the exam with a score of 4, demonstrating my strong analytical and writing abilities. During that time, I also wrote and published my own book—an achievement that strengthened my understanding of voice, structure, narrative development, and the writing process as a whole. My tutoring journey began in high school, where I worked one-on-one with students who were struggling or hoped to elevate their skills. Every student I worked with showed clear improvement—not only in their grades, but in their confidence, clarity, and ability to express ideas. That early experience taught me how powerful individualized instruction can be, and it shaped the teaching methods I continue to use today. Now, as a university student, I am enrolled in some of the most advanced literature courses available, and I consistently rank at the top of my class. These courses challenge me to think critically, write with precision, and explore texts on a deeper level, all of which enhances the support I provide to my own students. I bring the same academic rigor and enthusiasm to tutoring that I bring to my own studies. Students can trust me to offer clear explanations, thoughtful feedback, and patient guidance. I am committed to helping each learner strengthen their writing, comprehension, and analytical skills in a way that feels structured, supportive, and genuinely empowering. Above all, I aim to help students become more confident, capable thinkers—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

My teaching style is based on clarity, structure, and adaptability. I start by identifying exactly what a student already understands and where their gaps or uncertainties lie. From there, I break complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and use examples, analogies, and guided practice to reinforce understanding. I pay close attention to how each student learns—visual, verbal, hands-on, or pattern-based—and I adjust my explanations and activities accordingly. I encourage active learning through questioning, problem-solving, and short check-ins to make sure each concept is fully mastered before moving on.
A Typical Lesson Plan: A standard lesson follows a simple, effective structure: Warm-up & Review (5 minutes) – Quick recap of the last session to reinforce retention. Learning Goals (2–3 minutes) – Outline what we’ll accomplish during the lesson so the student knows what to expect. Concept Breakdown (15–20 minutes) – Step-by-step explanation using tailored examples, visuals, and real-world applications. Guided Practice (15–20 minutes) – Work through problems together; I model the thinking process and gradually hand the problem-solving over to the student. Independent Application (10 minutes) – Student tries a few problems on their own while I check for understanding. Wrap-Up & Next Steps (3–5 minutes) – Review what was learned, identify improvements, and set goals or homework for continued progress. I combine strong subject knowledge with an ability to explain material in multiple ways until it clicks. I’m patient, encouraging, and attentive to each student’s individual pace. I also emphasize metacognitive skills—how to study, how to think through problems, and how to learn efficiently—so students build lasting academic independence. My goal isn’t just to teach content; it’s to teach students how to succeed long-term. My tutoring is tailored for: Elementary school students needing a good foundation in English as a whole. Middle school students just beginning to get the hang of essay-writing. High school and college students seeking support in English, literature, poetry, or general academic writing. AP, IB, and honors-level learners who need deeper explanations, clearer structure, or more rigorous practice.
