About Evie

My name is Evie and I am currently studying for a psychology degree at the University of York. I am a dedicated and supportive tutor with a strong academic focus, committed to helping students build both confidence and genuine understanding in their studies.

My teaching is centred not only on improving grades, but also on developing long-term skills such as critical thinking, independent learning, and effective study habits. I use structured explanations, active recall, exam-focused practice, and personalised guidance to help students progress with clarity and confidence.

I understand that every student learns differently, so I prioritise flexibility, encouragement, and consistency in my sessions. My goal is to provide a professional, reliable, and supportive tutoring experience that helps students feel capable, prepared, and motivated to succeed.

About the lesson

I take a structured but flexible approach to tutoring, with a big focus on making complex material feel manageable rather than overwhelming.

My teaching style is built around understanding how you learn best first—whether that’s through step-by-step explanations, active recall, practice questions, visual examples, or breaking dense topics into simpler chunks.

I focus on clear, tailored explanations of difficult concepts using straightforward language, active recall and retrieval practice to strengthen memory, exam-style questions and application practice to build confidence and adaptive teaching pace depending on confidence and progress.

I aim not just to help students memorise content, but to genuinely understand it so they can apply it independently.
Lessons are usually 60 minutes, though 30-minute revision boosters or 90-minute deep-dive sessions can also work depending on the student’s goals (exam prep, coursework, or weekly support).

I am currently studying for a BSc degree in psychology and have previously completed psychology A-level, receiving an A*. Therefore, I am qualified to teach psychology to those revising for exams, writing essays or just need extra support in understanding the topic.

These lessons can be tailored to GCSE or A-Level students, including those students needing support with revision, coursework, or academic confidence.

Whether someone is struggling with the basics, aiming for top grades, or just wants clearer understanding, lessons are adapted to their level and goals. The overall aim is to create a supportive, judgement-free space where students can ask questions freely, strengthen weaker areas, and steadily build independence.
