About Maryam

I am deeply passionate about psychology, having studied the subject for over five years. My fascination with human behavior and the intricacies of the mind has only grown over time. Beyond academics, I’m an active person with a strong interest in health and fitness. I also love to unwind with a good book, a cozy cup of coffee, or by indulging in my favorite hobby, crocheting.

About the lesson

Psychology can be a fascinating subject, but understanding theories, remembering research, writing essays, and applying psychological concepts can sometimes feel overwhelming. My aim is to make psychology clear, engaging, and genuinely relevant to you - whether you're studying for an exam, working on an assignment, or simply curious about how the mind and behaviour work.

I hold a **BSc (Hons) in Psychology** and an **MSc in Clinical Psychology**, and I have developed a strong academic and practical understanding of areas including **clinical psychology, psychopathology, mental health, research methods, statistics, psychological assessment, and psychological theories**. Alongside my academic background, I work within mental health services, giving me experience of seeing how psychological concepts connect with real people and real-life situations.

I can support students with:

* Understanding difficult psychological theories and concepts
* Clinical psychology and psychopathology
* Research methods and statistics
* Essay planning, structure and critical evaluation
* Understanding and evaluating research
* Exam preparation and revision
* Breaking complex topics down into simple explanations
* Developing academic confidence and independent study skills

However, my sessions don't have to be purely educational. **You don't need to be studying psychology to be interested in learning about it.** Perhaps you've always been curious about why you think, feel, or behave in certain ways, want to understand human behaviour more deeply, or simply want to explore psychology and how it relates to everyday life.

I love helping people connect psychological knowledge to their own experiences and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the people around them. This is **educational and reflective rather than therapy or clinical treatment**, but psychology can still give you fascinating insights into things like personality, emotions, relationships, attachment, behaviour, cognition, and mental health.

My teaching style is **patient, supportive and adaptable**. I don't believe in simply giving you answers. Instead, I focus on helping you understand *why* something is the way it is, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and questions along the way.

Whether you're a psychology student who wants to improve your grades, someone struggling with a particular topic, or simply a curious person who wants to understand psychology and perhaps yourself a little better, I can tailor sessions around what you want to learn.

**You don't have to study psychology to be interested in the human mind. Sometimes, the most interesting psychology is the psychology that helps us understand ourselves.**
