About Beth
Hi, my name's Beth :) I am a current PhD student and Assistant University Lecturer, and I feel strongly about helping students to not only reach their full potential, but to enjoy the learning process. I have been tutoring A-Level/GCSE students for over three years, and now teach Psychology (statistics) at university, to both BSc and MSc students, so I have lots of direct teaching experience alongside my own strong academic background.
I have a First Class undergraduate degree in Psychology (BSc Hons), a Distinction at Master's in Social Psychology, and am now a PhD student and Assistant lecturer. I am therefore able to tutor Psychology at all levels up to and including degree level (with specialisation in statistics and methods modules). Since my own research is in socio-political psychology, and having both tutored and completed Sociology at A-Level myself, I am also well-equipped to (and thoroughly enjoy) offering support to A-Level Sociology students as well.
I offer a wide range of support, from content learning through to exam practice, emphasising confidence in ability and enjoyment for learning throughout. I am passionate about unlocking young people's potential, and believe that a huge part of learning and success is down to building confidence in your ability, and a love for your subjects. Therefore, I will always strive to make learning fun, and take a student-centred approach to tutoring.
I look forward to speaking with you, and hearing your stories of success in the future!

I am a Qualified Tutor with over three years of experience tutoring 1-to-1 and small group A-Level and GCSE students, and am currently in my sixth year of degree learning myself. I have an enhanced DBS, a First Class BSc in Psychology and a Distinction in MSc Social Psychology, alongside 3 A grades in A-Level Psychology, Sociology, and Geography. I choose to take a student-centred approach to tutoring, discussing specific needs and effective methods of learning at the beginning of our sessions together. Depending on the student's level, I use a range of methods to boost engagement, understanding and recall.
I typically teach 1 hour lessons, but am happy to be flexible based on students' needs – we can discuss this and work on an individual basis! I teach both GCSE and A-Level Psychology and Sociology. I also provide support for degree-level Psychology students, especially those who need extra support with statistics and methods modules (e.g., theoretical content, Jamovi or R Studio).
In our first session, we will discuss your individual needs and make sure I am the right tutor for you before continuing! For available slots, please message me and we can chat about what works!

Beth tutored me in the 6 months leading up to my A-level Psychology exam, I went from being unsure about the content and dreading the exam to feeling pretty confident and enjoying lots of the topics too. I exceeded my target grade in my final exam, and finally found a tutor I looked forward to my lessons with :) highly recommend Beth to other A-level students!
Beth is such an amazing tutor! When I started sessions with her I was averaging a D in my sociology A-Level and I was really struggling to keep up. Beth explained everything so clearly, made the subject so much easier to understand, and made learning way more enjoyable. She was super supportive and always gave me great tips for exams too.
Thanks to her help, I got a B in the end (just a few marks off an A!) and got into my first-choice uni. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her!Beth was a great help to me in learning how to use R. She was very thorough and really well informed which made the learning process a lot less stressful. Throughout our sessions, Beth showed great experience and knowledge, not just in stats, but in the area of social psychology overall, which made for very engaging sessions. Any of my questions were answered clearly and patiently. Would highly recommend!
