About Amelia
I am a first year student at Durham University studying BA International Relations. I achieved 9s in both my English Literature and English Language GCSEs at Surbiton High School, and continue to have an ongoing passion for English whilst at university. Over the past four years, I have babysat for multiple different families - as well as having a ten year old sister - which I believe has made me better equipped for not only understanding but also supporting younger children. I can remember how daunting the 11+ exams felt, and so I would do everything in my power to ensure that my pupils would leave their tutoring lessons feeling prepared and confident for their exams!

My approach to tutoring English is student-focused, supportive, and practical. I aim to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their skills at their own pace.
I use a communicative and interactive teaching style that encourages active participation rather than passive learning; as well as providing structured guidance in a supportive and encouraging environment.
I take pride in being reliable, organised, and well-prepared for every lesson. Lessons are carefully planned to ensure steady progress, and I provide constructive feedback to help students improve effectively. I believe that building a positive relationship with students is essential for successful learning, and I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere where students feel motivated and supported.
