About Bernard
I am both a project manager and a trainer.
Training and execution should go hand-in-hand. I have been doing both since the 1980s, working at IT firms, and presenting classes for individual students and groups of up 132 students at a time. These classes were presented at the University of Pretoria, the University of Witwatersrand and Monash, Oracle University, and training institutions.
Some of the topics that I covered include Project Management, Agile project management, IT Implementation, Business Intelligence, Software Engineering, Oracle EBS, SQL, XML, Java, and OBIEE. Some courses were developed from scratch, and standard courses adapted for specific audiences
My project management experience include : IT consultation and development, IT outsourcing, financial services, retail, medical services, short-term insurance, mining, public sector, and research. Project management approaches include: PRINCE2, DSDM Atern and SAFe

About the lesson

I follow different teaching methodologies, customizing them for the specific audience and the topics.
- The theory of Project Management can be quite daunting by itself. I like to approach the discipline using use cases to which the students can relate, and address the theory in a specific context.
- For technical tutoring, I prefer practical hands-on approaches, giving attention to each individual and their specific questions or challenges. Again, the course material should relate to the student's needs.
I prepare for each course and class individually and do not work through the same standard set material only. The lessons also contain the latest reading material, hints, short discussions on the student's own environment at work, and practical anecdotes.
Eventually we can learn while having some fun!
