About Zakira
I am a Chemical Engineer who’s currently working as a Project Engineer.
I love learning and I love passing my knowledge on.
I was a first generation student and as a result I sometimes felt like I didn’t know what I was doing or how to help myself. I really struggled at times and genuinely didn’t think I’d get through it.
Initially, I started teaching to help students like me out so that I could help guide people the way I would have liked to be helped. I ended up enjoying it so much that I now do it a few times a week to gain extra money and also give back.

Chemistry and Maths are both subjects that I absolutely love and am truly passionate about. This results in me being very thorough in my explanations and not just giving a surface level overview of topics that are required. After giving a detailed description of the topic, I tend to narrow down exactly what the student would require in terms of their specification so they know exactly what will be required of them.
I have taught chemistry as Head of Science for 6 years and my experience is that students (at GCSE) tend to lack the basics and this results in them never being able to build. I usually have students that tell me their least favourite science or most ‘hated’ science is chemistry and then they end up falling in love with it (in the same way I did). I’ve had so many students tell me they decided to do Chemistry A-Level after my lessons.
I tend to give an explanation on the topic and then overload students with exam questions. The questions are what makes the biggest difference.
With maths, I’ve been teaching for over ten years.
Maths is a very easy subject to learn but people tend to put a block in their brain out of fear.
The more you practise, the better you get.
For some students it’s a steep learning curve but if they’re persistent, they will always be successful.
I motivate and encourage my students to keep trying as with hard work success is inevitable.
