About Martin

I have been playing chess for 7 years and am currently rated 1822 FIDE.

I discovered chess later than the average club player, which allows me to better understand the questions that children or adults who start later may encounter. I am proof: it is never too late to learn and progress, as long as the curiosity and desire are there.

This game had a profound impact on me. It taught me discipline, reflection, time management... and even influenced my career. It was by wanting to program an algorithm capable of beating me at chess that I turned to computer science. Today, I am a software engineer, thanks to this passion.

One of my best memories as a player remains a draw against an international master – a significant experience that pushed me to improve further.

Today, what I love most is passing on this passion, in a positive, motivating environment that respects everyone's pace.

I enjoy working with children: my classes are fun, structured, and designed to help them progress while having fun. I always make sure they understand what they're doing and why, in a caring and supportive environment.

With adults, I adapt the content according to the level, learning style and objectives: leisure, personal development, or preparation for competition...

I give lessons in French or English, depending on your preferences.

Each person is unique, and my classes are completely personalized. Whether you're new to chess or already have some basic knowledge, I adapt to your pace, your learning style, and your goals.

Here are some examples of course formats I offer:

- For beginners:
We'll start with the basic rules, then explore the specifics of each piece through interactive exercises, to help you master their movements, strengths, and peculiarities.

Next, we will look at simple checkmate patterns together, so that you clearly understand the goal of the game and can finish your first games with confidence.

Finally, it's time to practice: we'll play a game in real conditions. I'll guide you live through your first moves (opening principles, king safety, piece development) and give you the first tools to play independently and in a structured way.

- For amateur or intermediate players:
If you already play regularly, the goal will be to use your experience to progress intelligently.

Together, we'll analyze your games—especially your losses—to identify common mistakes, good reflexes, and areas for improvement. This analytical work is essential for developing your critical thinking and building your progress.

I'll tailor training plans to your needs, including tactics, strategic planning, middlegames based on pawn structure, and essential endgames. We'll also work on your game vision and your ability to handle complex positions.

Whether you want to play your first tournament or simply take a step forward, I will support you with method, kindness and passion.
