About Owen

My passion for programming began when I discovered how small pieces of logic could create meaningful tools and applications. I pursued a B.Sc in Computer Science followed by an M.Sc in Software Engineering, gaining deep insight into software design and development. Over 11 years, I have guided students through structured learning paths that make programming approachable and rewarding. I teach with patience and clarity, encouraging experimentation and curiosity. I help students understand why their code works, how to debug effectively, and how to think logically through challenges. Many learners who start unsure gradually gain independence and confidence as they build real programs. Outside teaching, I continue exploring new programming technologies and working on personal coding projects. This keeps my lessons current and relevant. Teaching programming is fulfilling because I see students gain the confidence to create solutions and trust their ability to learn independently.

About the lesson

Programming becomes far less intimidating when learners understand how logic flows through code. In my lessons, I teach Python, Java, algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming using structured explanations that emphasise reasoning and problem-solving. I focus on helping students understand how programs think, allowing them to write code with confidence rather than guessing solutions. Lessons are adapted to each level. Beginners learn variables, loops, conditions, and simple functions through hands-on practice. Intermediate learners develop modular thinking, debugging strategies, and algorithm design. Advanced learners work on optimisation, project planning, APIs, and interview-style challenges. Each lesson includes practice tasks and guided corrections to reinforce understanding. Programming lessons also build resilience, creativity, and analytical thinking. As students gain confidence, they learn to approach problems methodically and independently. My goal is to help learners feel empowered to build, test, and improve their own programs, developing skills that are valuable across technology and real-world problem-solving.
