About Nina
I currently work with high school students building literacy skills. I can work with students from K-12. I have been a tutor for 3 years and a program manager in a classroom for 2 years. I manage 9 tutors and 58 students receiving services.

I start with making sure the student understands the basics vowel and consonant sounds. Once I am able to discover where the student is lacking we work on those skills and build from there.
A typical lesson plan will be to review the concept from the last lesson. Start a new concept, i.e., Long A, Long U, Silent Letters, Vowel Changing. We will then work on fluency by reading a story or a passage in that story. We will then work on comprehension skills by discussing the "who, what, when, where, and how" from the story. Every other session we will work on antonyms, synonyms and other concepts that will help the student with comprehension and critical thinking. Depending on the students level I can also work on paragraph formation and writing.
