About Lindsay
When I was in the first grade, my teacher, Ms.Coleman, told my parents that I needed to be tested for a learning disability because I could not pay attention to anything she read aloud to the class. My grades were low. I cried that day. I thought I was stupid. This would be the first time my ability to perform academically was challenged, but not the last. Each time I was told that I was not capable, it hurt, but never once did I lay my head down and give up. In fact, I worked even harder. I stayed after school every single day for tutoring. If I was told to read a chapter once, I did it three times.Sure, I had to work harder than most of the other kids, but that didn't bother me. It pushed me to set goals, and when I reached one of those goals, I set another, and then another until I was lining up to graduate with highest honors, ranking fourth out of my graduating class .They said I couldn't, but I did. I went on to college, and all the extra work I had to do in k-12 was a huge asset because I developed great study habits, and also graduated from the University of South Alabama with Departmental Honors, Suma Cum Laude. Getting an education is not about what comes easy. It's not about the teachers or instructors, it's about who's the smartest or who's the dumbest. Whether you're in tutoring or behind, it doesn't matter. You're gonna get out of school exactly what you put into it. We learn best from the mistakes we make, we improve, and we never stop striving.

I take the Socratic approach. I begin with a general thought, and then I ask questions based on the student's responses until I'm satisfied with the progression of the discussion. It is a very challenging approach, but extremely effective at driving critical thought.
