About Danica

MFA-trained and formerly a bookstore owner, I have been writing and editing freelance for almost 4 years now, as well as facilitating workshops, tutoring university students, and coaching individual creative writers like you—which is honestly my favourite aspect of my career.

No two writers share the same journey. My coaching services are highly adaptable and best suited for someone who wants to take their writing beyond 'hobby' status but who cannot, for whatever reason, commit to doing a university writing program or quitting their day job.

I focus on what can be controlled: developing your own skills and creating a sustainable writing practice for your own life. But between my MFA, my bookselling years, and my own interest and experience, I have gained working knowledge of the publishing landscape and how to navigate it, if that is something you're interested in.

Whether you're local or remote, we can meet wherever it suits you best: my home, a park or café in East Vancouver, or online.

About the lesson

Learning how to express our inner worlds with beautiful, accurate language is a skill that improves individual lives and makes the world a better place too. The world needs your words (especially now), and I'm here to help.

I adjust my coaching methods to suit the goals of each individual writer. I have coached a range of writers: from someone who needed help facing the blank page after building a whole fantasy world in her mind, to someone who had already completed a nonfiction manuscript but needed to build her author platform and position it for the market.

No matter where you're at with your writing, or what you're trying to accomplish, I can be your guide. I have expertise to share, absolutely, but what most writers need is accountability to their own goals and the compassionate ear of someone who understands their insecurities and challenges.
