About Savannah
Hi there! My name is Savannah. Welcome to my tutoring page. :) I started my journey as an English instructor and tutor during my Master's degree at Texas A&M in 2017. Later, in 2019, as an English Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I continued working as an English instructor and tutor for student-athletes. Fast forward a few years and a career change later, I found my way into a Technical Writer role at commercetools, an eCommerce software company that powers some of your favorite online shopping websites, like Ulta and H&M. Yet, through all of the changes, my love and passion for teaching has remained steady. So, here I am, pursuing my passion for helping others learn how to take the stress out of writing. If you struggle with any part of the writing process, like getting started, drafting, organizing, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, vocabulary, or anything in between, you've come to the right place. With over seven years of professional writing, teaching, editing, and tutoring experience, I am confident I can help you take your writing to the next level. Writing is often a struggle for many people, and the thought of starting a writing assignment or project from scratch can be daunting. As your tutor and go-to writing expert, I will guide you through each step of the writing process, ensuring that you feel supported from start to finish. Together, we'll create writing that is clear, impactful, and accurate, guaranteeing you're able to tackle any kind of writing assignment!

My writing tutoring methods focus on personalized instruction tailored to your individual needs and writing level. I have worked with students of diverse ages, races, nationalities, ethnicities, skill levels, cognitive abilities, and learning disabilities. Everyone is welcome in my classroom.
With new students, I usually begin by assessing their current writing abilities and identifying areas for improvement, whether in grammar, structure, style, or content. I also ask students to self-reflect on their writing abilities, struggles, and areas they'd like extra attention to, so I can ensure they're getting the most benefits out of each session. Our time together will include practice writing, real-time feedback, and guided revision to help you craft clear, concise, and accurate writing.
I like to use various active learning tools and activities, like cube brainstorming, reverse outlining, and DOCS analysis techniques, to further develop students' writing skills. My goal is to build your confidence and ability to express yourself clearly and effectively through writing by equipping you with the tools that professional writers, like myself, use every day. With me as your writing guide and coach by your side during each step of the writing process, you'll be writing like a pro in no time!
