About Oscar

Hey! My name's Oscar Reynolds and I've been playing professionally as a drummer and I think real-life experience is so valuable as a student and teacher. They include my own projects as well as different artists like Georgia Van Etten, Connor Selby, Artie Zaitz, and NAALA.

I still consider myself very much a student of music myself, so I'm regularly practicing and gigging. I think this helps me stay aware of the best way to practice things because I'm doing it too. I think it also helps me to remain unconditionally patient and supportive.

I really believe in little and often as a practice approach to build great subconscious habits, and focusing on a few things rather than being overwhelmed by 6,045,832 different things on instagram.

About the lesson

Thanks for considering me as a teacher :) My underlying approach is to make sure you love playing the drums as a priority. I think we naturally want to explore our instruments when we want to do it rather than when we feel we "need" to practice. I also thinking about our mental concepts is really important, such as visualising and what to being paying attention to as a drummer, after all we are mainly a supporting instrument, not a soloist (not all the time anyway).

I've taught at schools/ sixth form and privately, all ages 7-35, for many years using rock school and Guildhall grades, as well as tailoring the lessons to what you are individually interested in learning.

I've gotten my first class honours degree at Academy of Contemporary music, been DBS checked, and have completed my level two in Counselling techniques because I think our relationship with our instrument is just as important as how darn good we are at it.

I both teach from my studio in Harringey as well as offering remote lessons or I can also come to you.

Lessons can be 30min or 1 hour, but would recommend the hour as we can really get to grips with the material we're learning from a few different angles.

I mostly play and have studied funk, soul, blues, hip hop and pop. But have also got some experience in Jazz. Although I'm excited to explore any direction you'd like to go in :)
