About Elba

I am a 66-year-old Mexican woman with master's degrees in Finance and Education. Since 2008, I have been living and working in Texas as a certified Spanish teacher for students in grades 8-12. I also provide simultaneous translation at cultural, political, and school events and academic meetings with parents, as well as translating school documentation. As a volunteer at my church, I have translated informational brochures and the website, and I support Hispanic family registration. I also collaborate with a program to support incarcerated Hispanic women.

As a Spanish teacher, my approach is based on a personalized method, focused on practical use of the language in everyday life.

Teaching Method and Techniques
My approach focuses on real communication. I use a variety of techniques, such as practicing real conversations, interactive exercises, and everyday life situations so that students can apply what they have learned immediately. I also use multimedia resources, cultural activities, and listening exercises to maintain interest and encourage complete immersion in the language.

Typical Lesson Plan
Each class begins with a brief review of what has been previously learned, followed by an introduction to the new topic or grammatical structure. The class is divided into practice activities, including readings, discussions, and interactive exercises. At the end, time is spent resolving doubts and reinforcing the key points of the day, always adjusting content and pace to the individual needs of the students, seeking a balance between theory and practice.
