About Joe
I'm a professional touring guitarist, songwriter and co-producer, best known as a member of Enola Gay. Over the past decade I've built a career as a working musician performing internationally, releasing critically acclaimed music, and sharing stages with some of the biggest names in the industry.
Since 2020 I've toured with Enola Gay across Europe and the US, playing major festivals and showcases including SXSW and Eurosonic Noorderslaag, and appearing on line-ups alongside acts such as Metallica, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, as well as touring with IDLES. My music has been playlisted on BBC Radio 6 Music and reviewed by Rolling Stone, NME and The Quietus, with our Casement EP named in The Quietus's Top 100 releases of the year. I've been interviewed on air by Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq (6 Music) and endorsed by Iggy Pop on multiple occasions.
Alongside performing, I've also worked as a guitar tech for touring bands including Lambrini Girls (when supporting Iggy Pop and Blondie).

I take a flexible, student-led approach: some lessons focus on learning songs and chords while others are built around structured technique, theory and reading, for the pure enjoyment of playing! I gauge what each student wants early on and shape the lessons around that, rather than sticking to one rigid method.
At 29, I still remember what it was like as a student almost giving up because lessons felt boring and I was forced to learn songs I didn't care about. There's always a song out there you'll love that also teaches the techniques you need to progress — so let's keep it fun and engaging.
Every student is given home materials chord sheets, tab, and notes so they can keep practising and progressing between lessons.
Lessons are typically 1 hour, though I'm not a clock-watcher. If a student's in the middle of finally nailing something, I'd rather let that moment land than cut it short.
I bring real, current experience as a professional touring guitarist, songwriter and guitar tech, along with an HND in Music Production, Rockschool Grade 8 Guitar and GCSE Music Theory. I also teach bass and acoustic guitar.
Lessons are open to all ages and all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players looking to refine technique or prepare for exams/grades.
