About Joshua

I am a World Cup Finalist and multiple-time South African champion with 23 years of swimming experience.
I am also a South African Water Polo Champion and was scouted for one of the best Division 1 water polo universities in the USA (conversational in English, French, Spanish).

I was paid a lot of money to swim overseas for an excellent Division 1, highly esteemed college, where I led the team with work ethic and discipline. Unfortunately, my career was cut short by 21 years old due to failed surgery and eventually severe back injury.

I can confidently say I possess one of the best strokes in the world - especially when healthy! In fact, one of the most prominent coaches in the world, who is also South Africa’s most esteemed and decorated Olympic coach of all time, invested in me as his very own up-and-coming Olympian champion.

Fortunately, I get to do something much better - teach you the best sport in the world! Whether that's to learn, compete, stay in shape or coach, swimming has the potential to make your life so much better.

As a South African Water Polo Champion, I was offered a spot on one of the best Division 1 water polo teams in the whole of the United States. I'm excited to teach you what is widely considered one of the most brutal and simultaneously fun and beautiful sports in the world!

Not only is water polo excellent for learning team dynamics and staying in excellent shape, it also teaches you a lot about yourself. It's a difficult and highly technical sport, where knowledge of tactics are instrumental in dictating your success and trajectory in the sport.

Everybody needs to learn how to swim, and I am the patient, passionate coach you have been looking for.

As much as I have an exceptional work ethic, I am even more patient by nature and am there for you every step of the way. I have experience helping and teaching professionals, as well as underprivileged children in South Africa with or without a language barrier; I can honestly say that everybody learns uniquely, and I am experienced in dealing with nearly all kinds of learning styles and approaches.

I am a seasoned expert in technique and conditioning, and have trained with Olympic gold medallists and Olympians throughout my life. I also have learned from the best coaches on the planet and use my vast experience to formulate a customised approach just for you. I may also use tools and videos through Superprof if it suits your style of learning.
