About Jacinto E

I am a writer and translator whose mother tongue is Spanish. I have a cultural background of being raised in two different Spanish-speaking countries, which has broaden my knowledge about issues that foreign students might have when learning such a diversified and geographically expanded language.

Working as a translator, I have very high standards for my very own Spanish use. When you have to work professionally with your mother tongue, in one way you are relearning it every day through your experience and develop a (very critical) understanding of the language that's very different from school's usual hierarchical approach.

About the lesson

My teaching method is focused on pragmatism in a world where many students seek a type of "International Spanish" that might help them in any context. I offer insights into my own struggles when switching from different accents and local vocabulary sets that will surely boost your Spanish skills at the same time they'll give you the opportunity to communicate with any Spanish speaker.

I'm a language learner myself, of English, French and Chinese, so I can also offer native speakers of these languages some insights from the point of view of their mother tongues. I'm fluent in English (C2) and intermediate French and Chinese for learners that have just started with Spanish.

Apart from practicality, I like working with mnemotechnic rules to grasp the complex parts of Spanish grammar. Don't be afraid, even the natives suffer grasping it. I do not seek a top-down approach where I just deposit amounts of information onto students, I prefer a circular approach where the student also has the ability to quickly produce Spanish by him/herself from the materials and resources I give them.
