About Monica
As a college professor and music faculty member at a local music school, I have a significant background in teaching, lesson planning, and helping students achieve their goals. I teach courses in Voice, Musical Theater, and Music Theory for many different levels, and I maintain an active studio of private students. Over the years, I have also tutored students individually in singing diction, music theory, music history, and aural skills.
In addition to teaching, I am an active performer in opera, musical theater, and various other styles. I frequently perform as a soloist on the concert stage and sing solo recitals in various venues. I draw on my performing experience in my teaching so that I can speak from a genuine place as an active singer and musician myself!

My hope is to create a positive environment in our sessions to encourage your musical growth. From technique and diction to listening skills and expression, I want to help you enjoy the process of learning musical concepts!
I teach all ability levels age 14 and up, from beginner through advanced. A typical voice lesson in my studio includes warm-up exercises, individually tailored vocalises to build technical skills, and repertoire-specific work. A typical music theory tutoring session involves help with analysis and aural skills, as well as any other specific concepts as needed. I believe it is crucial in both of these settings to have a good grasp of the fundamentals before building on them. My goal is to help you succeed by ensuring that you have that strong foundation, as well as the tools you need to progress. I look forward to working with you!
