About Marissa

Hello, my name is Marissa, and I am a professional photographer, digital artist, and teacher with over 30 years of experience.

I have worked as a commercial photographer, graphic artist, and photography and Photoshop teacher, helping students of all ages develop their creative and technical skills. My experience includes teaching in schools, community programs, and private lessons, where I guided students step by step in understanding both the artistic and technical sides of visual creation.

Today, I also work as a 3D artist using Blender, creating characters, objects, and environments for my illustrated story project, The Heart Mender. This enables me to incorporate real-world creative experience into my teaching and help students acquire modern digital art skills.

My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and encouraging. I make learning fun by creating engaging activities that help students explore their creativity and build confidence. I believe everyone can learn to create when they are guided clearly and given the freedom to explore.

I live off the grid in Arizona, where the landscape and quiet surroundings inspire my creative work every day. I enjoy helping students discover their creative abilities and develop skills that will stay with them for life.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on helping students develop creativity, confidence, and practical skills in photography, Photoshop, and Blender. I teach in a clear, step-by-step way, making learning accessible and enjoyable for beginners as well as more advanced students.

I believe students learn best by doing, so my lessons include fun, hands-on activities that encourage exploration and creative discovery. Each lesson is designed to help students understand both the technical tools and the artistic principles behind their work.

In photography, students learn how to see light, composition, and visual storytelling. In Photoshop, they learn how to enhance and transform their images using professional techniques. In Blender, students learn how to create 3D objects and develop their imagination in a new and exciting way.

My teaching style is patient, supportive, and encouraging. I work at the student’s pace and help them build confidence step by step. My goal is not only to teach technical skills, but to help students discover their own creative voice and enjoy the process of learning and creating.

I welcome beginners and look forward to helping each student grow creatively.
